Introducing "Latinos in América"
a project of the heart, and the hope these series of stories would help
to lead the growing and better understanding of the Latino population,
culture and contributions to our country. Stories like "Fuerza Unida" were
also published on-line and broadcasted by PBS Austin Docubloggers and received a 2009 EMMY nomination. Other stories were produced for and published here in my Bilingual Blog which I run with no financial gain, and in the public interest. The Astronauta interview also aired with Radio Bilingue.

UPDATE: During the last presidential elections, it became clear that all that talk about the Latino vote making a difference, in fact did!! According to the latest polls, Obama received the highest percentage ever of the Latino vote, more than any other Republican or Democrat candidate before. The latest reports - one by La Opinion - indicates that (excerpt) "10 million Latinos voted, 66% voted for President-Elect Barack Obama. Decisive in states like Florida, Nevada and New Mexico, with large Hispanic populations, and in Virginia, and Pennsylvania, where they made the difference in very close races which were finally decided for Obama.

"Astronauta Campesino" The story of Jose Hernandez, a child of migrant field workers, and how his dream of becoming a NASA astronaut has become a reality. On line for a mission, Jose could be the next man to return to the Moon. A "Latinos in America" Perfil-Profile produced for espiBlog.org and aired on National Public Radio Bilingue (Spanish) UPDATE: In 2009 Hernandez became and went to space with the Space Shuttle Crew. From there above earth he communicated to millions via Twitter about education, immigration and a country seen from space "without borders."

is put together by a group of Latino producers, actors and film makers
in Los Angeles with their own backing, and no big studios to answer
to. "It takes a lot of Love...." says Executive Producer and director

"Las Mujeres De Fuerza Unida" In1990 one of Texas's Levis Strauss factories closed leaving hundreds of workers, mostly women, without their livelihood. To many, it was the only job they ever had. From their loss, a support group was born. A group that later became a leading center to empower women in San Antonio, Texas through education, social work and community activism. service stories I published in my blog espiBlog.org in 2008. I call my stories "Latinos in América" produced and created by Patricio Espinoza way before CNN effort of a similar name and since 2006. Also notice the "accent" América. The stories are about Latinos in the United States, of all walks of life, their challenges and triumphs. Some include video, others are just audio. Two of the original pieces, used here were Produced and Directed by Patricio Espinoza's and commissioned by Ford Salute to Education as part of the Ford Salute to education effort, those stories actually inspired some of my series of stories "Latinos in América"
in 2007. I had hope to produced more in English and Spanish for PBS. Unfortunately funding was never avail. So They were published here on line, one of the stories "The Women of Fuerza Unida" was broadcast by PBS Docubloggers in Austin in. That story also received a 2009 Emmy Nomination. Latinos by Latinos, and many are already talking about it. And, yes, you heard it here first... you can't watch this great new series on TV.... created by Ruth Livier, Showtime Resurrection Blvd., Ylse is only available on-line through viral web sites like YouTube. The web-only series is bilingual, but mostly in English focused on a new generation of Latinos, and women in particular.
